November 2008
We hate to mention it, but mention we will. Summer has given way to a crisp and wonderful autumn. With the change in the weather, comes the change in the political climate. Ah yes, we speak of the elections on November 4th.
What ever may be your political leanings, be they to the right or to the left, what is of utmost importance is that you excercise your right to vote. After all, this is the single largest bounty that this great nation has bestowed upon you, and not making use of that bounty, will make you the loser and no one else. Let us all become mavericks ourselves and put the new agents of change in charge of a nation that is reeling from mistakes and missteps galore.
We do not like to endorse anyone, but we would like to endorse a change, and since both the candidates are for a change, ergo, a change it will be. We always say Errare Humanum Est, but a laissez-faire attitude on behalf of the voters will certainly not help matters any.
On election day, to honour the two candidates who are running for the presidency, we are featuring two coffees. One coffee is the only one that is grown in the United States of America, and the other is the coffee from Kenya. Yup, we are talking about coffee from the Islands of Hawaii. It will be the only day that we will be brewing that particular combination of coffees, so here is yet another incentive.
In these tumultous and trying times, we all appreciate your continued patronage and support. If we are ever found lacking in the quality or consistency of our products and services, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Election Public Service Announcement
Election Day November 4th 2008,Paddy's Coffee House is the only coffee house that is certified to be a polling station. If you are an absentee ballot and have not mailed it in, drop it off at Paddy's on the 4th. To celebrate the moment, we are selling our "Vote for Paddy's" coffee cups. Bring this cup and your proof of voting, and your drink is free in the cup. Now, that is an incentive if any, to go out and vote.
November 4th, make sure you go out and vote. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise or dissuade you from doing so. Every single vote counts. Voting for an election is not a crime, you will not be stopped by the authorities, your credit scores will not suffer, you are protected by the law of the land.

Paddy the Poet
Given the election year, new candidates trying their best to be the agents of change, Paddy cannot but harken to the words of one of the most wonderful poets of the English language, William Wordsworth. Below is a snippet from his seminal piece "Ode: Intimations of Immortality"
-But there's a Tree, of many, one, / A single Field which I have looked upon, / Both of them speak of something that is gone: / The Pansy at my feet / Doth the same tale repeat: / Whither is fled the visionary gleam? / Where is it now, the glory and the dream?
