Paddy's turning five!

Thank you Miles Davis for the phrase "birth of cool." Five years ago was born an era of the coolest joint in Union City. Even with Paddy running the place, the coffeehouse survived another year! Come celebrate the 5th anniversary with us February 2nd -- that's the first Saturday of the month. Don't miss the food catered from local businesses, and our delicious drinks. Most importantly, make sure to grab a slice of that famous guava cake. See you there for good food, good company, and a great time.

Coffee of the Month:
Ethiopian Harrar

Love coffee? So do we! That's why we've started the Coffee of the Month program. You might be wondering what we chose first. To be appropriate, very unlike Paddy, we chose Ethiopian Harrar. This "naturally sun dried, full bodied coffee with a large winey character, and a blueberry finish" was the perfect choice. Ethiopia is where coffee was born! Here at Paddy's, it's one of our favorites. Now it is time to share with all of you. So come on over, try a cup, and if you like it as much as we do, take a bag of coffee beans - ground or whole - home for the whole family to enjoy.

Mark your calendars! Jumoke Hill will grace Paddy's with a performance this January. On January 26th, from 6 PM-8 PM, come listen to Jumoke's amazing vocal talent. Don't just hear ABOUT Jumoke, HEAR Jumoke for yourself.

Here at Paddy's you can be swept away two nights a week by the soulful singing and melodic sounds of our very own jazz performers. Come by on Monday nights to hear Vicky Yoshimura and Jay R Witt. Check out your calendars because we have two, yes two, Friday night jazz bands. If it's an even Friday night, you'll be able to listen to Doug Miller's sax and Joshua Cedar's guitar. Every odd Friday night has the coffeeshop buzzing with the sounds of Jazz 4 You, who played this last year at the Paddy's Anniversary party. Don't miss these ongoing events!! Paddy is expecting to see you.

Paparazzi are everywhere these days...

It's time for the 3rd Annual Union City Photography Reception and Exhibit, and time for all of you to head on over to Paddy's and check it out! The photos will be up on the wall from January 15, 2008 - February 15, 2008. Who knows, with all the cameras going off, you might find yourself in one of the pictures. So come on by and find out if you're a celebrity. The Artist's Reception will be help on January 18, 2008 from 7 to 8 PM.

Got Batteries?

Have some old batteries? Don't let them pile up in your house anymore. Bring them over to Paddy's and we'll recycle them for you. Just look for the battery-shaped bin by the back door. Drop them off, and forget about those battery worries as you recharge yourself with a refreshing drink.
